Deleted .pst files

I have seen a number of posting on this topic, I hope someone doesn't
mind responding again. I recently deleted through the Windows Recycle
Bin (Windows XP) my .pst file. I didn't realize that this file was not
just archived email, but all my outlook info (Contacts, Calendar,
etc.).

I downloaded a free trial of Recover My Files, and it found over 10,000
deleted files - but no .pst files! I can't figure out what is going on
- any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

If it's not in your Recycle Bin it's gone forever unless you have backups;
you deleted it.

Recovery tools only list files that can be recovered. This works alright for
small files since there is less chance that part of it has been overwritten
already but for large files (like the pst-file) it is very likely that parts
of it get overwritten within minutes and cannot be recovered.

You can Google for pst recovery tools for a pst file that has even been
deleted from the Recycle Bin. There are some out there, BUT there is no
guarantee that there will be any content in a recovered PST, or it may likely
be corrupted. The best result I've managed to date when a user has deleted
their PST is recovering only the Sent Items folder. Once. I did have to run
scanPST against it because there were many errors and there wasn't much left
in the file by the time it was recovered (no contacts, calendar, inbox,
deleted items, etc. just the Sent Items).
