Deleting a Category from Mail in Entourage 2008

Lynn Quinlan

Hi there,

I goofed. I had two categories with the same name (both are an Entourage
default category called Family). I went to delete one category in the Mail
portion of Entourage and realized perhaps I shouldn't. Anyway, I stopped
the delete process (a few thousand items had been processed by this time)
but am wondering what happens with this category now. Are the e-mail
messages (or even the calendar items) also removed as part of deleting a
category? If so, is there a way to recover these? I checked under Edit for
an "Undo" feature but it's not there.

Therefore, has any damage been done, what can be done to remedy the
situation and get the deleted items back (if they are gone)?

Hoping for some advice.

Don't worry. Deleting a category does not delete anything else. Your
messages marked with this category will simply no longer be marked. They
will retain any other categories you've assigned to them.

Thanks for the confirmation. Much appreciated.
