Deleting a resource from Resource Pool?

I have tried to delete two resources from the Resource Pool (linked to
70+ projects). It asked if I wanted to delete the resource name or the
entire resource. I chose entire resource, and Project deleted the name
only. Yes, I had opened with Read/Write privilidges. I tried it
several times, in several different ways (right clicking, delete key,
etc.). I have had severe instability isssues with this file before,
some I've asked about here. Any ideas on this one? Both resources have
done actual work in the past, but are no longer employed here and
aren't needed on the Resource List.

I'd recommend not to delete the resources if they have work reported on past activities. You can mark them as "Inactive"; no further tasks could be assigned to them.

However, you need to replace the resources in projects that already consider these resources in future tasks.
