Deleting characters to the right of the cursor

Hi,

I'm new to Mac's so can you tell me how to delete a character to the right
of the cursor. On a windows machine, you just press the 'del' key. It seems
on a Mac, you have to arrow right and then delete (backspace).

Cheers,
Darren

Do you have a laptop? On my powerbook g4, holding down the fn (function) key
while I tap delete works (I just discovered).

Shift-arrow would select and then backspace should delete the selected text,
as an alternative (assuming you have "typing replaces selection" checked in
Word | Preferences, Edit)

Not having seen a regular apple keyboard for a while, not sure if that
translates off laptops.

My iMac has a Del key. The Del key runs the built-in command "EditClear" in
all versions.

You can look in Tools > Customize > Keyboard what keys are assigned to that
command, or add your own shortcut.

Regards,
Klaus
