Deleting data in a template

I've found a template thats perfect for our church budget, I've downloaded
it, but how do I remove the sample money amounts in the template? I'd like
the template to be blank to start 2008. Thank you

If I use the delete key will the info I put into the daily entries still show
up on the summary page? I have Excel 2007 and the template is a "General
Ledger - Actual versus budget YTD". Thank you for responding.

The best way to find out is to try. I can see the template (I think it's the
right one) and it appears to work but I'm not an accountant. I readily admit
to knowing squat about what I'm looking at. ;-)

You need to be careful about which entries to delete. Any cell that contains
a formula should be left alone. For example on the YTD Summary sheet the
Actual column uses a formula that points to the Totals on the Monthly
Expenses Summary sheet. However the Budget column is fine to change.

The general rule on any Excel template is if you select a cell and see a
formula in the formula bar (below the Ribbon -- formulas start with an =
sign) then leave it alone. If you see a number, or the formula bar contains
the same value/text you see in the workbook, then it's safe to change. A
quick way to see all formulas/values on a worksheet is to press Ctrl + ~.
This will toggle the formula view on the worksheet. Press Ctrl + ~ again to
toggle the view back to the value view. If you use this shortcut while
viewing the Monthly Expenses Summary worksheet you'll it's comprised of all
formulas so the only thing you'd want to change is the text/labels.
