Deleting Documents on Word Mac

I'm doing a cleanup of my Mac - is there a way to delete documents
from Word - you can't send them to Trash - please let me know if
anyone has the instructions on this. Thanks

You can delete any files you wish, but OS X doesn't allow it to be done from
an application's Open or Save As dialogs - it must be done in a Finder
window. Have a look at Mac Help on the topics for removing files & using
search features.
