deleting entries/ keeping formulas

Peter H

Hi all. I've had this answered before, but forgot the answer. If some kind
person will respond I promise to remember the answer on not waste anyone's
time on this question again.

I'm looking to reuse a spreadsheet and wish to delete the entries w/out
deleting the formulas. How can I do this.

Thanks

Peter H

To get rid of all the numbers that you've typed on the sheet:

1. Make a backup copy of the workbook
2. Select all the cells (Ctrl+A)
3. Choose Edit>Got To, and click Special
4. Select Constants
5. Leave Numbers checked, and clear the other boxes
(Text, Logicals, Errors)
6. Click OK
7. Press the Delete key, to clear the cells.

Are you asking how to clear the contents of cells that don't contain formulas?

If yes, then you can do this:

Save your workbook with a new name--just in case.
Select your range to clear--either click, and ctrl-click on the ranges or drag
over the range. But don't include your headers/notes/instructions. (You
probably don't want to clear them.)

But you can include as many cells with formulas as you want.

Now hit Edit|Goto|special
Click on Constants
(you may want to inspect the resulting selection. If it looks like it's the
range you want to clear, just hit the delete key (or Edit|Clear|contents))

But if you notice that you included any headers/instructions, start over.

Thanks Debra. That worked perfectly.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I already tried Debra's suggestion and solved the
problem. Thank god for this group !!
