DELETING EXCEL FILES

I cannot select and delete files in my EXCEL 5.0 on XP ..
am I nuts or what? I can't find this function anywhere ..
ANYBODY .. PLEASE HELP ME .. I have MMMMMAAAANNNYYY files
I want to get rid of .. it's driving me NUTS!!
