deleting footnote line?

I added a line either as a bottom border or a footnote
seperater. I don't remember how I got the darn line in the
Word X document. I want it out but don't get handles and
can't seem to find anyway to delete the darn thing.
Help!!!!!!!

I seems to be a footnote without any text. Is there a tiny '1' on the
line below? If yes, click on it. That should take you to the footnote
reference in the text. Delete the reference.

It is just possible the footnote number below the separator is hidden,
so try again with show hidden text checked.

It could be a corrupt document with a referenceless footnote. Try
pasting the whole thing, minus the last para mark ¶ into a new fresh
document.

Note: All of these are wild guesses. If one works, please tell us
which. It is an interesting fault you have there.

PS (mostly to me) I have just discovered that opt-7 produces a ¶ in
this news reader client. Does this make its way safely through news? (I
get rubbished here every time I mis-spell pilcrow)

It comes through to me, Elliott. But I like seeing "pilcrow", especially
when you say "I've had a pilcrow of a day!"

Cheers,

Clive
