deleting from data source

I'm new to Infopath and would appreciate any help with these two
questions:

1. When customizing a form from a sample, how do I delete items from
the data source? I tried right click, delete but that option is grayed
out.

2. How do I add a text box that will automatically enter a date,
specifically yesterday's date?

I can answer part 1: you don't delete items from the data source. Instead,
you need to go to Tools --> Data Connections and select the data connection
that you want to modify. Click 'Modify'. On the next screen, ensure that the
'Show Table Columns' box is ticked. This displays the columns for the data
connection - deselect the ones you don't want, then click next to finish the
modification process.
