Deleting groups of files

I downloaded the documents from the disc that came with
the Microsoft Word 2002 CORE Manual to see what they
were. 117 documents were downloaded to My Documents. I
decided I was not ready for them and attempted to delete
them. Using the Shift key, I highlighted a group of
files, pressed Delete on my keyboard and said Yes. I did
this through all the documents only to find that instead
of deleting, the documents were duplicated. Then,
thinking I had used the wrong method to delete, I
repeated the highlighting but this time, I right clicked
and pressed Delete from the menu and continued this
through the documents, but again I found that the
documents were being duplicated instead of being deleted.
I then tried the same thing using the Control key, but
the same thing happened. I now have about 75 copies of
each of 117 documents. What am I doing wrong and how do
I get rid of these documents? HELP PLEASE!!!!

My first thought is that your mouse may have slipped and copied the
documents. This is actually a Windows Explorer issue and not specific to
Word.
