deleting macros

dear all,

windows xp pro sp2, office 2003 pro sp2,

i have recorded a macro and saved it within the document where the macro was
used. now that i finished with the macro and have deleted it, i am puzzled
that subsequently whenever i launched the document the security warning
"C:\Documents and Settings\... contains macros -> Disable or Enable macros
keep coming on. shutting down and rebooting does not seems to have made a
difference. is this normal (i.e. "a bug in office 2003") or am i not doing
something right?

of note, this was my own document, it hasn't been anywhere, contaminated or
infected.

would appreciate advice and help in this situation.

thank you,
jes

Hi jes

Make sure you delete the module that holds the macro, as well as the macro
itself.

To do that, open your document and do Alt-F11. You should see your file
listed on the left. If you don't, then do View > Project Explorer. Find your
file in the list, and click the + signs to expand its entry. Under Modules,
if you see a module, click on its name and then do File > Remove (name of
Module).

Back in your document, save, close and re-open to see if it worked.

Hope this helps.

Hi jes,

Easy fix: Save as RTF, close, reopen, save as DOC. RTF can't save macros, so
that gets rid of them.

Or you could delete the whole code module in the document and save. If
you've created toolbars or buttons to call your macro, get rid of them too.

Regards,
Klaus

shauna, klaus,

thank you for your advice. i went to Tools -> Macros and deleted my macro
(earlier) that way. so i could not see the module on the left pane anymore
(when i did alt-F11). what i did notice however the toolbar button for the
macro persisted. once i deleted the macro toolbar as per klaus' advice, the
security warning no longer appears.

regards,
jes
