Deleting messages

Edward De Avila

I am unable to delete Entourage messages. I have accumulated over 400
messages and would like to get rid of them -- one at a time is insane and
setting up groups and then deleting the group doesn't work either. How?
Would like to convert to Mac Mail but unable to locate were to switch
preference -- Help

Thanks

If you have a folder listing open in the main browser window, you can
select more than one message in the left hand pane - shift-click to
select contiguous messages, or command-click to select disparate
messages. You should then be able to delete the selected messages using
the keyboard or menus. Messages so deleted will go into the 'Deleted
Items' folder for most account set-ups. If it is an IMAP account, the
account settings may be set to just 'mark as deleted' in which case
they stay where they are with a red line through them. In this case,
right-click on the folder and select 'purge messages'. Otherwise,
right-click on the 'deleted items' folder and select 'empty folder'
(not sure on the wording for that command, I don't have Entourage open
at the moment) and they will be gone for good.

If you start mail.app, yu can set the preference for the default email
programme in the mail.app preferences.

Like most MVPs, I am responding to your query through the public
newsgroup channel (NNTP). Microsoft is planning to close the public
newsgroups which would effectively disable this channel and may affect
the number of answers that are given. Please post any concerns you have
about these plans in this newsgroup so we can forward them on to
Microsoft.
