deleting ^p before and after table

WORD just drives me crazy somedays.

I have a table below the header. I cannot delete the ^p on top and below the
table.

The top one is forcing the table down and the bottom is giving me a blank
page 2.

How do I get rid of them? Don't know what to try other than delete or
backspace keys.

thanks

It should be possible to delete the one above the table. However, there is
no way to remove the one below the table (as designed).

Select each one and format it to a font size of 1 point. It won't be gone,
but it will be as small as possible.

I couldn't delete either of them, but the 1pt trick did what I needed.

You can also format them as Hidden, which in some ways is preferable.
Although they will show up when you show nonprinting characters (including
Hidden text), and this will affect the page layout, it's easy to "lose"
paragraphs formatted as 1 point, especially if you forget you did it or
someone else (who doesn't know you did it) has to deal with the document.

And now matter how you format the paragraph marks to hide them from view,
you can use a paragraph style to apply the formatting; that makes the task a
little easier.

How do I format a ^p as hidden?
I searched help and all I get is adding or removing the formatting markups.
thanks

Select the paragraph mark, then in the menu, "Format > Font", check
"Hidden".

Once you learn to love hidden text and its uses, you'll likely use the
keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+H.

Note, however, that sometimes Ctrl+Shift+H seems not to work for paragraph
marks, even when they are displayed and explicitly selected and formatted
using that shortcut.

Haven't run into that bug yet, but in Word2007 it wouldn't surprise me much,
unfortunately.

I was referring to previous versions--haven't done enough in Word 2007 to
talk about it.
