Deleting picture from documents moves all others

We're editing scanned documents which contain text and images. The scanning
software places the text in frames but not the images although they are
correctly positioned. Each image has wrapping style 'square' and Absolute
Position is set.

Our problem arises when we remove one image - this causes some other images
to move. They behave as if they're linked but I can find no reference to
this although they do have an anchor. How do I remove the anchor?

I have a vague memory that I used to, in a previous version of Word, select
an image in a document and insert a frame around it and that the frame would
accept the current position of the image - is this possible?

I'm currently using Office 2007 but I've also been testing this on 2003.

Suggestions appreciated

I believe the "absolute" setting is what is creating the anchor, so you may
want to play with that a bit to see what it's absolutely anchored to. If you
removed an image that changed the pagination, then other images might move
along with the paragraphs they are anchored to.

Just a thought--

Thanks for the reply. I think we've had to accept that we're faced with a
whole load of editing, although the OCR itself worked all right.
