Deleting picture in Word document gives non-stop beach ball

Bergstrom, Martin

Hello,

My girlfriend has a Word document that gives the spinning beach ball in Word
2008 when the one picture she has inside it is deleted. I can reproduce this
every time and it also happens after the 12.0.1 update.

Yesterday (before I applied the patch) the beach ball even "spread" to the
rest of the applications I had running. As soon as I tried to quit an open
application it stalled and all new apps I tried to open wouldn't launch
properly. Take a look at this picture:

Any ideas?

Judging from the screen shot I'm guessing that you ran into a system error -
not enough memory and/or disk space to complete the operation. It looks like
you had every application & utility you own launched at the same time:) Try
shutting all that other stuff down & see if you have the same problem.

If you do then it may be a corrupt image or a corrupt document. Copy all but
the last ¶, paste to a new blank doc & see if you can delete the image from
it. or try the other methods suggested here (even though it doesn't
specifically refer to 2008):
