Deleting POP3 mail immediately on read?

My mother has an attglobal.net POP3 account that is getting flooded by
spam, so it backs up and she cannot read it all in. Sessions drop on
her after 5-10 minutes, and when she tries to read in the mail again,
it starts at the beginning.

Is there a way of configuring Outlook (2000) so that it:

1. Reads in one message
2. Deletes that message
3. Goes back to (1.) until out of messages to read in

I've been able to do it manually with a telnet 110, and have used that
to clear out messages that she cannot seem to read via Outlook, but it
seems like there should be some sort of Outlook configuration way of
doing this. It appears that Outlook is only deleting messages after
it reads everything in, and that's taking her too long, so I need to
configure it to do a Read&Delete on a single message basis, if that is
possible. If not, does anyone know of any mail readers that can be
configured that way?
