Deleting projects

J

John Cello

Using ProjectServer 2003 and PWA. I have one project that I cannot delete.
I've deleted several others, but this one particular project shows up in
project center. It doesn't appear as a project to open in Project 2003. When
I try to delete this project from PWA admin, I get a VBScript error "An error
occurred while completing the operation"

I'm at a client site, and don't have any SQL admin rights. Is this something
the SQL dba will have to clear up?

The short answer is yes. The DBA can delete the project uniqe ID. As
always, a backup prior to editing the DB is a good thing.

You can search this forum or the developer one to find scripts, but if
you don't have SQL admin rights, you will still need to get the DBA
involved.

John,

Try to open from ODBC (setup machine data source pointing to Project
Server database), this way you can see the hidden projects. Highlight
the plan click X on open window to delete the project plan. It also
always better to clean up with SQL script based on project unique ID.

I considered that option, but I don't have any access to the database. I'm
at a client site, so I'll let their in-house staff handle it.

Thanks for the input though.

Oscar,

The advantage of the PSCleaner, you can delete multiple projects or
multiple resources in one single click, where as with PWA deletion will
be done only one project/resource at a time.

PCSCleaner will show the same projects that Project Web Access will
show, but it won't show hidden or orphan projects.

Thanks
Chak
