Deleting Published version of projects (EPM)

I'm archiving a project by creating saving the live project as an archived
version. Obviously when saving the project as an archived verion, I now have
two of the same projects one saved as archive and one saved as published. The
dillema I'm having is that I need to delete the published version of the
projects. MSP doesn't allow me to delete the project, because I'm getting a
message " Cannot delete the project, you must first delete non-published
versions of the project", although I have published the newly created
archived project. If I delete the published project directly from the
database, It messes up the archived version of the project.

My question is where is the link between the two versions of the projects
and how can I overcome this problem so that I can delete the published
project?

Your approach will not work, as the dialog indicates when you try to delete
the Published version of the project. For an alternate approach to
archiving a completed project, refer to the following FAQ:
