Deleting recent document file history from MS Word

When I open MS Word, a list appears on my Files menu of my
recently used or opened documents, how can I delete this
list or prevent it from appearing?

twailings,

To make them not appear use >Tools>Options>General and
uncheck "show recently used file list"

To actually make the record go away, you will need to
delete the listing in the registry.

Actually, just disabling the list in Tools | Options will make them go away.
It's also possible to remove them piecemeal using Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen.

I could say I meant to leave a tingling of fear, but the truth is I was
simply wrong again. Not a good day.
