I have a word document that I inserted several section breaks into, but I can't figure out how to delete them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure you have the non-printing characters (¶) displayed so you can see
where the section breaks fall, drag to selec a break then press delete...
but there may be some complication depending on what else you've done in the
doc as well as how the breaks were actually applied - directly, in a Style,
as a paragraph format??? If you find that the suggestion doesn't work please
provide more complete details.

I have the non-printing characters displayed, and can see the section break, but I can't seem to select it. I have tried every combination of clicking and dragging imaginable. The break was inserted from the insert menu. It's a next page section break, and it's messing up the page number header on the following page.I don't know what other information might help. I am really stumped. Thanks for any suggestions on how to proceed

Have you actually tried pressing the delete key after "attempting" to select
the break? If your system has a particularly high brightness level set the
shading can be literally impossible to see.

Try this: Put your insertion point at the start of the break, hold
Shift+Command+RightArrow, then press delete. If that doesn't do it I'd have
to suspect document or section corruption. In that case have a look at the
information here for suggested remedies:

One thing: It must be "Delete" not "Back Delete". The Mac has two
different keyboard functions: the ordinary delete is in fact a "Back
Delete". To take out a Section Break, you need to use Forwards Delete.

On a laptop, that's Function + Delete :)

Cheers
