deleting selected text

Selected text will not delete when I press the delete key. I have to
use "Cut" to remove paragraphs. What could I be doing wrong?

From the Tools menu, select Options and go to the General Tab and uncheck
the boxes alongside "Help for WordPerfect users" and "Navigation keys for
WordPerfect users"
