deleting sent files

Jim (SGO)

When I try to delete or move certain files in my "Sent" files box, I get an
error "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook". It only occurs when I try to delete or move files
before a certain date. Part of the problem is that I keep bumping up against
the 2 MB size for Outlook. I'd like to move or delete these old files but I
can't. Thanks for any guidance. Jim

Try holding Shift down as you press Delete. Try emptying your Deleted Items
folder and compacting the PST. What version of Outlook?

Presumably you have a pre 2003 version of Outlook?
Locate scanpst.exe, the repair tool, run it against your data file, probably
several times.
Start Outlook, set Archive settings, than Archive a significant ammount,
after which Compact your Personal Folders
Remember also the Archive will be subject to the same size issue, so after a
period of time you creat new Archive in archive options
