Deleting shapes

In the Shapes menu I find that I am not given the option to delete some of
the shapes that I have imported (created in PowerPoint). Why is this? I am
trying to rationalise and standardise some of the information panels I have
created.

How did you import from PowerPoint?
It probably came across as embedded PowerPoint file or as an image.

Sounds like you have created an image ... you can use Shape / Grouping /
Convert to Group ... then sub select an element in the group to delete it.

They are two different applications, whilst PowerPoint has the new SmartArt,
Visio has SmartShapes, so there is no direct conversion between the two.
It depends on what you want to do...
