Deleting Task Updates

I've encoutered a problem where I have deleted a task from the project
plan, republished the schedule but the tasks still appear in the
resources' "My Tasks" PWA screen.

I am using Project Server 2007. How do I get rid of the tasks so that
the resources no longer see them, or do they have individually delete
them?

I always unpublish a task before I delete it in order to remove the
assignment and delete the task from the resource's My Tasks page. Not sure
how to remove an orphan assignment once the task is gone... you could try
recreating the assignment and then unpublishing it or have the resource try
to delete it.
