How do I delete entire documents from microsoft word? I have
Microsoft Office software on my Mac iBook G4.
Hi Laura,
Did you recently switch from Windows to the Mac? This is a difference.
On Windows, you can File | Open, browse to files, and delete them from
inside that dialog. On the Mac, you can *only* delete files from Finder
windows. You can't do it from a File | Open or File | Save dialog---even
though those dialogs look almost just like a Finder window, they aren't
the same. This is going to be the case in *any* mac program, not just Word.
So go to the desktop, hit cmd-N (apple-n) to bring up a new Finder
window, browse to the document you want to delete, and drag it to the
trash.
Tips: I have customized the Finder window to put a Trash icon in the
Finder toolbar, allowing me to just click it with the doc selected
instead of dragging around. Also, it's probably easiest if your Finder
window is set to column view.
I've not used Windows much, but I get the impression that the Finder
gets used on the Mac more than the equivalent Windows Explorer gets used
on the PC.
