Deletions in text and not in right-hand margin

Older versions of word allowed for track changes to show deletions in the
actual paragraph, now they are moved off to the right hand margin which
sometime makes to difficult to review a document. This is especially the
case where only small one off words and phrases are removed from the
document, rather than large chunks of the document. I would like the ability
to be able to have the deletions appear as a line-though within the text
rather than in the right-hand margin if possible. If anyone could help with
this I'd be really grateful.

Preferences/Track Changes, uncheck the "Use balloons to display changes"
checkbox.

checkbox.

And if you want the option of having either display at your fingertips
(sometimes I want to see the deletions on the page, sometimes I want them
"out of the way" -- depending on the nature and frequency of changes), you
can just change between Page Layout view and Normal view (Command-Option-p,
Command-Option-n).
