Dell Dimension 4600 Won't Install ppviewer--Won't Install

W

W. Watson

I sent a friend a ppviewer.exe file as an attachment to my mail. He uses
outlook express, and when he downloaded it, it was called something like
ppviewer-03rxtt-dribble.exe The 03 to dribble is just my invention. It was
odd anyway. We finally found (we were doing this by phone) it in some
folder, and I asked him to double-click to install. Nothing happened. Does
anyone have an idea what's wrong here. Before I sent it to him, I used it to
easily and successfully install the viewer.

I'm not a Outlook Express user, so don't know if the above is typical. Why
the added stuff after ppviewer?

The problem is most likely in sending an .exe or executable file. Most, if
not all, emails clients will strip these because viruses are spread
frequently via executable attachments. Try deleting the .exe and have your
friend add the extension upon receipt or add it to a .zip file and send.
Or.....refer said friend to this link for 2003:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...27-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&DisplayLang=en

If using for PowerPoint 2007 use this one:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...40-14e1-467d-8dca-19d2a8fd7485&DisplayLang=en

Hopefully these will work for you. If not, refer friend to the Microsoft
Download Center and search "powerpoint viewer"
