Dependency on deliverable

Hi,
I'm just trying find a way to have actual status of milestones in the
master project plan. I create deliverables on sub projects and add a
dependenxy of milestone in the mastert to one of them. But it gives
nothing. As far as I understood it's not automaticall shift the dates when
you add a depndency for external deliverable. Do I need to use "ghost"
tasks as it was with 2003 to have an actual pdated information for
milestones in master plan? What for this deliverables in this case?

Deliverables are a means of providing key project outputs without giving
users access to the plan. They do not drive the schedule, but simply
provides visibility to consumers. If you want to drive the schedule across
projects then you will have to create cross projects links as you did in 2003.
