Dependent tasks

Hi,
I have two tasks. Task one must complete 2 weeks before Task 2 can complete
and they both have same start time. How do I link these tasks so that a delay
in task 1 will push out finish date of task 2?

Thanks.

Project does not allow you to use the same task in both predecessor and
successor relationships. If I understand you correcctly you want 1&2 are SS
(start to start) while 2 is also 1ff+2weeks.

Try this -- create two new 2 milestone tasks "MS1 and MS2" Your Task1 has a
predecessor of MS1 as FS. (This could also be any normal predecessor). MS2
has a predecessor of Task1FF+10days.

Now create a Hammock Task out of your Task2., see
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm and read FAQ 19. The start date of the
Hammock will be the same as the start date for Task1, the finish date will be
the same as the finish date for MS2.

Now, as the duration of Task1 varies, the duration of Task2 will walk along
with it.

Clive,
It sounds like you are trying to constrain task 2 on both ends - it
starts with task 1 and it's finish must move with finish of task 1, with
a delay of 2 weeks. The only way to get that type of setup with Project
is to use a hammock task. Go to our MVP website at:
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm, and see FAQ 19 for details on how to
set up a hammock task.
