Deploying Access 2000 from XP to Win 98.

I am trying to deploy an Access 2000 application from a XP machine to a Win
98 machine. I have used the deployment wizard. I have also created a
switchboard form. All that I get is a blank screen when I try to bring up
the application. I have used the runtime files. Am I not deploying some of
the right files?

Why should I have to update anything when I am trying to deploy it on a
system that does not have Office 2000? Shouldn't any updates be included in
the deployment.

No they are not, neither MDAC or jet are deployed with an access runtime,
neither is it deployed with an Access executable - when built with the
Access developer pkge.
If you are deploying using an installer application, depending on the
installer app used, there may be the option to interrogate the target sys
for other files required, which are then installed if required.
MDAC is deployed with various full MS apps, including win.

What I am trying to do is create a Access 2000 app which I can deploy to
machines which may not have Access 2000 on them. How do I create a
deployable package then? Remember I am using the Office 2000 developer
toolkit.

Its been a while since I used Access2k developer - I'm afraid I switched to
Delphi, the following link should provide some guidance;
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...odcore/html/deovrdeployingaccesssolutions.asp
To the best of my recollection the deployment wizard/package is not able to
determine what other files are required to be deployed on a particular
system. The suggestion been that you should include them all.
Whilst I developed db's using Delphi and the Access mdb I used a specific
installer application (Installshield), this had the ability to interrogate
the target sys and install only the extra files/apps required, on the
specific system.
For further help you might want to post to one of the
msnews.microsoft.public.access newsgroups
