Design and new grayed out.

I have an Access 2000 database. When I try to design or create a new report
both the design and new buttons are grayed out and I can do neither. All I
can do is open them. However in both tables and queries I can design, open
or create a new one. Any ideas on how this could have happened.

Sounds like you (or someone) converted it to an MDE file where code-based
objects cannot be created or changed.
