Design Template: Imported Text Doesn't Use Master Attributes

I recently created a PowerPoint Design Template for a client. The
client is currently having a problem with outline text, in .rtf format,
which has been imported into PP and then had my desing template applied
to it.

The client imports the .rtf text, then applies the design template,
however, not all of the text attributes of the design template are
applied. A few minor things like style - italics, roman, bold - and
justification are off in certain areas. For example, a header will be
in the correct font, at the correct size but have a style applied that
I didn't create in the design template.

The .rtf outline has been properly formated as far as header attributes
are concerned, so it's nothing so obvious as that. It seems that just a
few of the .rtf attributes are sneaking their way into the PP
Presentation even after the design template is applied.

Has anyone run into this problem as well and have a possible
explaination or, even better, solution?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Does the RTF file have an attributes in it ?

e.g. <B> bold text </b> etc

As RTF files can have things like bold - italics within the simple text
file... maybe it's coming across when it's imported.

ahhh - yes ... see

Yes, that seems to be the problem. unformatted .rtf and/or simple .txt
assume all of my specified properties. It's formatted .rtf that is
slipping through and keeping its own .rtf formatting even after being
imported to PowerPoint.

Is their something I can do within PowerPoint or in my PP design
template to force all imported text to assume my attributes? Or is this
something that needs to be done in Word?

Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can get powerpoint to 'forget the formatting' in an RTF
file. It's just obeying orders.

What you need to do is export (or save as) from word to a simple .txt file.
