Designing form that works like a pivot table

I have been developing tables, queries, and reports in access for about a
year now. But, I have had very limited experience in designing forms.

What I would like to do is create a form that expands and colapses fields
like a pivot table. With the feild that would be in the column section of
the pivot table being the only field with the user can input/edit data. Is
this even possible?

I know this is a very braod/vague question...but I hate to spend my time
trying to figure out how to do something that is not possible.

If I could just get a place to start...and maybe a suggestion of something
to read that would be great.
