Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.5604.5606) Part of Microsoft Office
Professional Editon 2003

I'm not sure I have the correct newsgroup, but here is my question.
Hopefully someone will give me an answer, if nothing else directions as to
where I might obtain an answer. I have a picture I downloaded from Microsoft
Online Clip Art. I would like to make it my Desktop background. I downloaded
the picture into my Microsoft Clip Organizer - How do I copy/transfer it to
my Desktop as my background?

Hey Gap-

You're right about this not being the right place, but since your're here...

Right-click the Desktop and choose Properties. Go to the Desktop page and
click the Browse button. In the explorer window navigate to the Program Files
folder> Microsoft Office> CLIPART> PUB60COR. Make sure you know what the name
of the image file is, 'cause there are a bunch there and they all have
cryptic names, but that is where you should find it.

1. Insert the clip in a blank document.
2. Using File > Save As, set the file type as "Web page (*.htm)" and save.
3. Close the document.
4. In Windows Explorer, look in the folder where you saved the document.
There will be a folder with the document's name plus "_files". Inside that
folder will be a graphic file containing the clip. If you don't want to keep
the document as a web page, move the graphic file to another folder and then
delete the .htm file (the folder will automatically be deleted along with it
because they're linked).
5. Right-click the desktop, select Properties to the Background tab, and
click the Browse button. Find the graphic file and apply it as the
background.

I think all you have to do is open the picture, right click and choose "set
as desktop background".

Hi Bill-

You're correct that Set as Background will work, but unless you get real
lucky the image usually gets disproportionately resized and pixelated. You
wind up in the Desktop Properties to try and fix it anyway.

All this is well and good but my question is quite the reverse. I have
pictures in my background menu which I cannot remove. I don't even know how
they got there. In any event, I tried the browse button and can delete it
that way but it also deletes from my regular files. How can I override that?
I just want to remove them from my background menu, that's all.
