Desktop Shortcuts don't work

K

Karl Kistler

Hi,

I am using MS Access 2000 and Windows XP. I have a desktop shortcut
to an access database on another computer on my network. Recently,
this shortcut has stopped working. I can still open the file if I
start Access first and then use file-->open, but double-clicking on
the shortcut or even browsing the network to find the file on the
other computer doesn't work.

I think that this is related to an MS security update, perhaps
coinciding with IE7. Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or
workarounds?

Thanks.

The easiest thing to do is create a new shortcut. I will probably take less
time than anything else you can do.

I also have the same problem and recreating the shortcut does not solve this.
It is only MS Access shortcuts that don't work, all other shortcuts to Word,
Excel etc all work fine. Any ideas anyone?

I fixed it in the IE Options. Go to the Security tab, select the Local
Internet, click sites, and clear the check boxes. It worked for me.
