If you're using Word, this may help:
(Thanks again, Martha)

Your underscores are being converted into a border. To get rid of it,
you can hit Undo immediately after the border appears; or if it's too
late for that, select the paragraph directly above the line, go to
Format > Borders and Shading, and on the Borders tab select None.

To stop the conversion from happening in the future, go to Tools >
AutoCorrect, and on the "AutoFormat As You Type" tab, unselect the
checkbox next to Borders.

There are other, possibly better ways to get the signature lines: you
can use tabs with leader lines, or regular old tabs but set the font to
be underlined, or better yet use a table (turning off all the borders
except the ones you want). A table is especially useful if there's a
chance that someone will want to fill out/sign the document online.

Thank You so much for you help.
I am not a frequent word user as I am sure you can tell.
I was trying to help a friend out with this document and it was driving
me nuts.
OMG so easy to fix it. Think we both need lots of practice with this
program it is very powerful but so many weird things can happen.
Thanks Again
Jan
