Desperately need help with using track changes feature!

Hi, I'm sure this has an easy answer but as of yet I can't figure out
how to do this. My boss has asked me to use vertical bars whenever
there is a change in my manual. The manual is already finished and I
do not know how to show the bars in new sections without making a
"fake change" to have the bar appear. Is there a way to retroactively
show changes by selecting a paragraph and applying the bar to that
area?

I take it you didn't have Track Changes turned on while you were making the
changes? If you have a copy of the old version, you can use Tools | Compare
Documents to mark the changes.
