Destabilized Word 2003 take three minutes to open

If I use the computer for more than an hour, Word cannot open in less than 3
minutes. Detect and Repair works. Why does it destabilize so often?

I see nothing wrong with the fan. Wouldn't everything (not just Word) be in
trouble if it was overheating?

It is hard to say - it depends on the processor intensity. If the cpu
overheats it operates on reduced performance to protect it from thermal
runaway - for a while until it runs away. However if you have no problems
with other software after long periods of use, see
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm, switch off Norton
AV's office plug-in (if applicable) and right-click on the My Computer icon
on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped drives
that are not currently available.
