Detail Format section running several times

Hi
I have a master report which has 10 sub reports.
In one of the sub reports, I run some code in the Detail Format section. At
the moment, this runs 12 times when the master report is opened. There is
always only one detail.
Why would this happen?
I can stop the format running, by setting a boolean valuethe first time the
detail section code is run. But I'm curious as to why it happens in the
first place.
