Details of Table

When I click on Forms, Tables, Reports, Queries (any of those) and next click on "Details" everything disappears, but when I click on "Large Icons or Small Icons or List" everything comes back. What is it with "Details" that makes everything disappear. Is there a setting somewhere I've changed?

Dear Jeff,

Is your db a front end / back end combination? I encountered 'empty' Detail
views after
splitting. It simply appeared that the columns in detail view were extremely
wide. So:
move right and reduce column width.
