Developer Extension problems

Angus

I have obtained Developer Extensions which I am just starting to roll out to
users using the supplied Packager.

When installed on user PCs the user starts the mde application and they are
presented with a macro security warning. On retail Access this is solved by
going to Tools/Macro/security. However on AccessADE the Tools menu does not
exist.

Additionally, whenever an action query is run the user is asked to confirm.
On retail Access this is solved by going to Tools/Options/Edit/Confirm.
Again, on the AccessADE the Tools menu does not exist.

How can I solve this problem? Is there an option I have missed in the
Packager?

Thanks in advance.

This is a big bug-bear of A2003. Also, the PDW (Package & Deployment Wizard)
does not do a very good job of runtime installations. I'm sure you realise
this!

Options are:

www.sagekey.com, which is a robust installer and specifically says it solves
this issue.

Do It Yourself: Set the macro security or "sandbox mode" to low. As I don't
use A2003 I can't be specific, though a google search on "sandbox" and the
Security newsgroup should turn up some Registry Settings.

Obtain a Certificate (Digitally sign the App). Almost everyone hates this,
because it's money for no good purpose. But it's what Microsoft intended.
Again, I think there's plenty of recent messages in the Security newsgroup,
about certificate suppliers and other related stuff or experiences.
