Has there been any demand for development using Visio for buildings and
facilities?

Do you mean more than there is Visio 2003 Professional Space Plan?
Used to be more, but Microsoft decided to stream line...

Hello David,

I'm a degreed architect and simply curious if there has been any solutions
developed for buildings and their facilities of any type.

I am also a degreed architect - been using Visio for FM since 1996 in
various forms.
Been thru' many iterations of code to suit the tasks in hand.

The Space Plan is a reasonable place to start - probably more succesful if
you use embedded dwg files, rather than drawing walls etc from afresh. If
you do draw the building core with Visio, then it will save processing time
if you use an image of the building core as a background when you have
finished it...

Thank you for your comments David. I'm not planning any immediate AEC/CAFM
projects at the moment but with the emergence of products like Revit and the
industry's growing acceptance of BIM I thought it would be a good idea to
consider how Visio may play a role.

Web development methodologies are where everybody's attention is focused
noting Autodesk has subverted and corrupted the use of their products to
prevent that from happening and while Microsoft has been 'all in' they are
just getting around to implementing the 'task pane' throughout the product
lines to enable tightly integrated and interoperable implementations. I'll
tell you something that has my interest in that regard however. Autodesk
just licensed a sh!tload of patented IP from Microsoft.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to learn to use Visio as an ORM tool.
