Dial-Up Outlook 2003 does not send mail

Even though the boxes are checked for automatically sending and receiving
mail, when there is mail in the Outbox, it seems as if the dial-up connection
does not stay connected long enough to actually send the message. The
messages move from the Outbox to the Sent Items. However, my receiptients
simply do not receive the mail if Outlook forces the dial-up when the send
button is pressed. If the connection is active when the send button is
pressed, the receiver gets the message. Any solutions? I do not want my
connection on all the time because that obviously wastes my hourly quota of
minutes. Thank you.

Outlook 2003 was not designed for dial up users. Manage your connection
yourself. Establish it before you launch Outlook. Disconnect it when you are
through.

Yes, that is the only solution I could come up with also. It seems like such
a pain to have to do this. Will Outlook Express do any better at this. I'm
not even sure what version it is, but it is XP Home OS. Thanks.

I would have no idea since OE and Outlook have nothing in common. My guess
is that it would since OE was designed more for home users using simple
Internet transports.
