Dialog box for inputing custom fields

K

Kristina Schneider

I have created a template in Word 2002 for which I have
also created custom fields and a custom toolbar. I have
inserted several instances of each field throughout my
template document.

I then create a document using the *New from template*
feature and I can go and change the value of my custom
fields for that specific document using the
*File>Properties>Custom* dialong box.

So far, so good.

Now I am distributing this template to less adept Word
users. I would like to create a wizard, a macro, whatever
is the most feasible that will ask the user to fill in
information for each custom field and then generate the
document.

I've done a bit of research but I haven't even come
remotely close to finding the information I need. I don't
even know where to start with this.

Help?

Hi Kristina,

What you want is a UserForm. See the article "How to create a Userform" at:

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Userforms/CreateAUserForm.htm

Instead of using code to populate bookmarks, you can have it set the value
of the Custom Document Properties and then have it update the fields in the
document so that the DOCPROPERTY fields display the information.
