Where is the dialogue box for what is in the cell as you are typing - how do you bring it up ??

There is no "dialogue box" for cell entries.

Your entry will always appear in the Formula Bar. If you want it to
appear in the cell as well, check the "Double-click allows editing
directly in the cell" in Preferences/Edit.
