Dialup Mail Collection

Hi

I hope that someone can help me. I have a user with a laptop that travels,
he uses a VPN to collect his mail. This is setup to create a dialup
connection to the internet then VPN on the back of this to our server.

So the user opens outlook, clicks send and receive which opens the dialup
connection box to make the connection to the internet, then once connected
the VPN dialog box opens and the connection is made, the mail is collected
and all is well.

The problem that I’m having is that the time the user tries collect his mail
the dialup connections starts, then suddenly stops, at which point the user
has to press the cancel button and then click send and receive again.

I have tried the internet connection outside of outlook and it works
perfectly every time, does anyone have any idea what might be causing the
problem.

While I can't solve the problem, I think it should be SOP to establish the
VPN connection first, then run Outlook.
