Dictionary and Thesaurus not working

When I paste a word into the box for the Dictionary or
Thesaurus functions in Word, and click to activate either
function, neither of these functions seem to work - at the
most a blank 'box' opens up.

Can someone advise me what the problem is?
I'm using a new copy of OFFICE 2004 on OSX 10.3.4, just
installed, and everything else seems fine.
