Dictionary - the service did not respond

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC When I try to access the dictionary or any of the other reference tools other than the thesaurus, I get a message the states No response. The service did not respond.

My network uses a proxy server and we have a firewall in place. Is this why I can't use the reference tools. I can't find any settings in the preferences for Word.

Yes, that's the problem...

The proxy server will probably be fine, but the firewall needs to let
various things in and out.

Connect Little Snitch and open everything up: there's a series of ports
involved and I can't find the details on those...

Cheers

Little snitch only reports the address of my proxy server and not the address of the resource Word is looking for.

Which PORT is it looking on? I suspect you have the port blocked...

As far as I know, Word does for a URL, not an IP address.

Well, you will need to run tcpflow. The service is working here, in all
languages.

It's reporting port 8080 which is an open port on our network.
