Did Outlook Express trash my old contacts list?

I recently tried to access Usenet from within Outlook for the first time.
This caused Outlook Express (which I didn't even know was installed) to
start. A wizard pops up and tells me that it has detected other e-mail
settings, and do I want to import. I said NO, assuming that I would be
returning to Outlook to do e-mail.

I never saw Outlook again, and cannot find it. Express 6 is now my default
mail program. I managed to get Express to import my messages from
somewhere, but I could not get it to import my mail server settings; I had
to recreate those.

The worst part is, I cannot get Express to import my Outlook contacts list.
Anybody have a clue as to where my old contacts list might be?

This was correct.

Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Outlook

They're where they always were in Outlook. To get Outlook back as your
default mail program, start IE and click Tools>Internet Options>Programs and
in the "E-mail" drop-down, select Microsoft Office Outlook.
